Performs duties as a clinical speech therapist for patients referred by the medical staff.
Contributes to a shortened hospital stay and more prompt recovery by developing means of communication to be used by hospital staff and family.
Directs a well-designed program of speech therapy to restore function to the maximum capability of the patient by evaluation of the degree of impairment and the extent of residual capacity for social and economic activities and to furnish and reinforce practical and effective motivation for rehabilitation.
Keeps current with technical advances in speech therapy through literature and attending conferences.
Prepares and presents in-service education programs for physicians and allied health personnel in the hospital.
Plans and implements as approved new programs and facilities in the hospital.
Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Supervisor – Physiotherapy.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy or Pathology. Current registration as a Speech Therapist (U.S. standard or equivalent).
Experience: 5 years minimum current experience as Speech Therapist
Knowledge/Skills: Skills to carry out duties properly, promptly and safely. Must have knowledge of medical terminologies, sterile technique and field.
License: DHA eligibility/license
Language: Fluent in English and Arabic
